Analytical Solution for One-Dimensional Gas Pressure Distribution Considering the Variation of Gas Permeability Coefficients with Burial Depth

Landfill gas generated by municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills is the world’s third largest source of greenhouse emissions. Additionally, accumulation landfill in piles can trigger instability piles. Based on exponential distribution pattern variation permeability coefficients with burial depth measured situ, this paper presents an analytical solution for gas-pressure that more line on-site conditions and has been verified numerical calculations. Compared cases where coefficient remains constant, consideration MSW decreases exponentially increasing likely to cause at bottom, leading higher pressure be than five times former case. a analysis extraction simulations, constant relatively effective relative −0.1 kPa lower almost entire pile, while bottom drainage fails completely collect even using flux 10–30 ML.
